Hosting and technical access data
The technical server infrastructure is provided and administered by Rupert Horner. The account and contract for the underlying Hetzner dedicated server are held by Rupert Horner. Hetzner supplies the underlying dedicated-server infrastructure.
When the website is accessed, the browser sends technically necessary request data to the web server. This may include the IP address, date and time, requested page or file, HTTP method and status code, transferred data volume, referrer, and information about the browser and operating system. Depending on the server configuration, such information may be stored temporarily in access or security logs.
This processing is used to deliver the website, maintain its stability and security, diagnose faults and prevent misuse. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interests are the secure and reliable operation of the website.
As part of operation, maintenance and security, Rupert Horner and the infrastructure supplied by Hetzner may process or access technical request data to the extent required for their respective technical tasks.
Log data is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer required for operation, security and fault diagnosis. It may be retained for longer only where a specific security incident or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims requires this.
Local language and appearance preferences
On the first visit, the preferred browser language is evaluated to select the German or English version of the website. Browser settings with a German language code lead to the German version; all other language settings lead to the English version. No location lookup or Geo-IP processing takes place.
The website initially follows the device's light or dark appearance setting. An explicitly selected language and a choice of System, Light or Dark are stored only in the browser's local storage so that the choice can be retained for later visits.
These preference values remain on the device, are not linked to a user profile, are not used for tracking and are not sent to the website or another provider. They can be removed through the browser's controls for website data.
Contact by email
When you contact the website operator by email, your email address, message content and technical delivery data are transmitted. This information is processed to handle and answer the enquiry.
The legal basis is generally Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, based on the legitimate interest in handling incoming enquiries. Where an enquiry concerns entering into a contract or pre-contractual steps, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR may apply.
Message data is deleted once the enquiry has been fully resolved unless statutory retention obligations or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims require otherwise. The email infrastructure services used by the sender and recipient may be involved in technical delivery.
The website itself does not currently use a contact form.
No analytics, advertising or tracking
The current website uses no web analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, marketing trackers or third-party analytics. It uses no analytics or marketing cookies and no cookie consent tool.
No user profiles are created for analytics or advertising purposes (profiling). No solely automated decision-making producing legal or similarly significant effects takes place.
Data subject rights
Where the relevant legal requirements are met, data subjects have the following rights in particular:
- Access to personal data being processed
- Rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erasure or restriction of processing
- Objection to processing based on legitimate interests
- Data portability where applicable
Changes to this policy
This policy will be updated before new processing activities such as an active newsletter, a delivery provider or additional online services are introduced. The version published on this page is the current version.
