Local-first
Local is the starting point
Your financial data is intended to remain primarily on your device. Essential features should work offline without requiring an account or online service.
Product vision
JustAnotherBudgetPlanner is being built as a local-first app designed to keep financial data primarily on your device. It should not only explain past spending, but also show how much money may be available in the future.
The central question
“How much money am I likely to have available over the next weeks, months, or years?”
Local-first
Your financial data is intended to remain primarily on your device. Essential features should work offline without requiring an account or online service.
Data ownership
Your financial data is intended to be stored locally and encrypted. With imports and manual entry, you decide how your data gets into the app.
Forward planning
Budgets, planned and recurring payments, reserves, and forecasts are intended to provide a realistic view of what comes next.
Online when you want it
Future online features may add convenience. Sync may be added later, but its timing and implementation have not been decided. Local use should remain independent of a cloud service.
Today
Work is currently focused on v1.0.0 · First usable local version. The first usable local version includes accounts, importing and recording transactions, categories, basic analysis, and manual backups.
